Ateliers d’Art de France and Vieilles Maisons Françaises have announced the 2015 winners. They have been presented with their awards in the International Heritage Show on 5 November.
The Craft Professions and Built Heritage Prize aims to promote an endangered sector or to protect rare know-how.
The 2015 award has been presented to cabinetmaker Julien Hebras, who – having acquired the Atelier Lemaire – wishes to pass on his rare ivory know-how to his employees. He is the only working craftsman who knows how to operate his unique machine that can cut sheets of ivory with a thickness of 3mm.
