IS THE FRENCH HERITAGE LAW ALSO A “REMARKABLE HERITAGE DEVELOPMENT” IN ITS OWN RIGHT?

Initially expected by the centenary of the 1913 law, the bill aimed at modernising historic heritage management in France took almost three years before being ready for presentation before parliament. This parliamentary project required a great deal of energy not only within the political world and via different lobbies, but also among associations in heritage preservation. So what result did it yield?
In an attempt to clarify the stakes and challenges brought by this new law and its consequences on private and public historic heritage, the Association des Journalistes du Patrimoine (Heritage journalists’ association) is organising a round table to which it is inviting three personalities to equally represent those in charge of applying the law, those to whom it applies and, finally, those who look over its consequences on monuments and their management.
